history
Perhaps the history of Cavalaire goes back to a Phoenician settlement called Héracléa Cacabaria. Relics from the Gallo-Roman period were found in the Pardigon district.
Cavalaire has been an independent municipality since the Gassin municipality was dissolved in 1929.
Towards the end of World War II , Cavalaire was the scene of major military conflicts when Allied troops landed between Cannes and Toulon on the Côte d'Azur during Operation Dragoon . Every year on August 15th the liberation of the region is commemorated.

Culture
The choice fell on a 104-hectare property on the heights above Cavalaire-sur-Mer when Hendrik Theo Wijdeveld , Erich Mendelsohn and Amédée Ozenfant were looking for a location for the building of their planned Académie Européenne Méditerranée . After the site acquired in 1933 was put into a devastating state by a forest fire on July 16, 1934, shortly before construction began, the project failed.
traffic
The former railway line from Saint-Raphaël to Toulon , also known as the Train des Pignes , which ran through Cavalaire, no longer exists. The route can still be traced from Le Lavandou to Sainte-Maxime today .
Cavalaire can be reached on the Départementstrasse D 559.
About six kilometers northwest of Cavalaire is the La Mole airfield ( ICAO abbreviation LFTZ), which is a bit difficult to get to from here. A planned direct connection there has not yet been implemented.
In Cavalaire there is a marina with 1200 berths.
