Guitareros

The Gitarreros was a music group composed of guitarists and some other members of well-known bands from the GDR .

Band history

The Gitarreros project was founded by the organizers of the Rock for Peace Festival , Michael Höft and Detlev Haak ( Thomas Natschinski Band). Band members were:

The first concert of this formation took place at the Rock for Peace festival in East Berlin's Palast der Republik in 1986. This was followed by a successful tour, which was continued the following year.

The concert program consisted of the titles of the bands from which the Gitarreros originate, such as Freitag von Pankow, Die wilde Mathilde von Silly, Flowers made of ice from Karat, Masters of all classes from City, Taufrisch from Stern Meißen, Kurzschluss from NO 55 and Endlos from Rockhaus as well as international rock classics such as Honky Tonk Woman from the Rolling Stones , Rock 'n' Roll Hoo Chee Coo from Johnny Winter , Johnny B. Goode from Chuck Berry and Red House Blues ( Jimi Hendrix ).
