NO 55 (spoken: Enno fifty-five) was a German music group. The band was formed in 1981 and broke up in 1989. In the meantime the band also called itself Enno .
Band history
Georgi Joro Gogow ( bass guitar , violin , vocals ) founded the band NO 55 in December 1981 together with Gisbert Pitti Piatkowski ( guitar , accordion , 1984 also vocals; formerly Magdeburg , City, later he joined the Modern Soul Band ) after Gogow's band City had split up.
The name of the band refers to a historical postal name of the Prenzlauer Berg in East Berlin , where Gogow lived at the time.
Other band members were:
- Hans-Peter Krause ( drums ), (formerly Mondie, Hansi Biebl Band , Keks )
- Frank Gala Gahler (vocals, harmonica , guitar, keyboard ) (came from Monokel , went to Gala)
With this line-up, NO 55 toured the GDR in autumn 1982 together with the British musician Tom Robinson . For the GDR audience, this was one of the first opportunities to experience an internationally recognized British rock musician live. A partial recording of the performance in Berlin was broadcast by the youth radio DT64 .
1983 Krause left, but came
- Herbert Junck (formerly Hansi Biebl Band, joined Silly in 1984 )
- Bernd Haucke (formerly Prinzip , later Modern Soul Band) replaced Herbert Junck in 1984.
During Gahler's army service in 1984, the band was expanded to include
From then on the band called itself Enno for a few months .
After serving in the army, Gahler founded the band Gala , with which he stayed until 1985; then he returned to NO 55. In 1986, Schock and Decker left the band and it happened
- Hannes Pfeffi Richter (keyboard) from Gala added.
In 1989 Gahler, the head of the band, left the GDR and NO 55 was dissolved.
The band's lyrics were written by Werner Karma , Jan Witte , Hartmut König , Frank Gahler and Klaus Bölter. The songs were composed by Georgi Gogow, Frank Gahler and Gisbert Piatkowski.
