history
From archaeological findings we know that the area around Comps-sur-Artuby was already populated in the Copper Age and Iron Ages.
In sources from the 11th century, the place appears under the name in Cumbis . Due to a gift from Queen Johanna I of Anjou, rulership of the place was partly due to the House of Pontevès . In the 13th century there was a commandery of the Order of St. John in Comps-sur-Artuby, which Charles of Durazzo besieged and conquered. The population had to flee and founded several villages in the area.

- The Romanesque chapel of Saint-Jean from the 12th century, like the Romanesque-Provencal chapel of Saint-Didier from the 13th century and the old arched bridge from the 17th century, which crosses the Artuby in the district of La Souche , is classified as a monument historique .
