history
In the district of Taradeau existed in the first century BC A Celtic-Ligurian settlement. The remains of a fortified oppidum were found in 1969 on the ledge overlooking the town.
It is first mentioned in a document as Taradel in 1131. The Castrum de Taradello is mentioned in documents around the year 1200. A somewhat later document documents the rights of the Count of Provence in 1252.
At the beginning of the 15th century the place was uninhabited. Control of the newly emerging settlement was shared by five families in the 17th century, including the Puget and Commandaire families. The castle was besieged by Raymond de Turenne and later by Charles V.

At the end of the 20th century, Taradeau, like many other municipalities in the region, recorded strong population growth. From 1962 to the turn of the millennium, the population increased from less than 400 to over 1600 people. The place owes its growth solely to a strong influx, as the birth rate was negative for almost the entire period.
