Fighter is the third single from Christina Aguilera 's second studio album Stripped . The song was released as a single in 2003 and peaked at number twenty on the US Billboard Hot 100 , where it became Aguilera's ninth top 20 single. Fighter ranked third in the UK and Canada and fifth in Australia .

Fighter was written by Aguilera and Scott Storch and produced by Storch. The guitarist Dave Navarro provided the guitar sound . So it is Aguilera's first song that contains rock elements .

Fighter is one of Aguilera's most popular songs. When the song became the official anthem for the 2003 NBA Playoffs , millions of viewers heard the song, sung live by Aguilera, at the NBA Finals. The music video was shot during the finale.

Commercial win

Fighter had only mediocre success in the US , reaching number 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 .

Internationally, the song was more successful, reaching the top 5 in the UK and Canada , the top 20 in almost all European countries, 5th in Australia , 14th in New Zealand and 2nd in Israel . The single has been sold over 3,540,000 times worldwide to date.

In 2006, Fighter was awarded gold by the RIAA for over 500,000 downloads.
