The Red Light District (English for. " The Red Light District ") is the fifth solo album of American rapper Ludacris . It was released on December 7, 2004 on the Disturbing tha Peace and Def Jam Recordings labels .

Ludacris himself and Chaka Zulu served as executive producers on the album . Timbaland produced two songs on the album, while music producers DJ Green Lantern , Organized Noize , Needlz, Icedrake, DK All Day, LT Moe, Craig King, Vada Nobles, DJ Toomp, Heazy and Salaam Remi each contributed an instrumental. Other beats come from The Medicine Men, Tic Toc, Polow da Don and Donnie Scantz. The bonus song was also produced by the rock band Sum 41 .

Cover design

The album cover shows Ludacris dressed in red and white and wearing a red hat. He looks at the viewer and lights a banknote. In the lower part of the picture there are the words Disturbing tha Peace Presents , Ludacris and The Red Light District in red and gray. The entire cover has a gray frame.

Guest Posts

In addition to Ludacris, other artists are represented on eight or nine songs on the album. The rapper DMX is involved in the song Put Your Money , while the singer Sleepy Brown can be heard on Blueberry Yum Yum . The track Virgo is a collaboration with rappers Nas and Doug E. Fresh , and Small World and Dolla Boy have guest appearances on Who Not Me . Ludacris also works with DJ Quik and Kimmi J. on Spur of the Moment , while singer Nate Dogg supports him on Child of the Night . Furthermore, the rappers Bobby Valentino have guest posts on Pimpin 'All Over the World and Trick Daddy on Hopeless , and the rock band Sum 41 appears on the bonus track Get Back (rock version) .

The Red Light District entered the US album charts at number 1 on December 25, 2004 and stayed in the top 200 for 42 weeks. In the United Kingdom the album reached number 98 and in Switzerland number 91, whereas in Germany it was not able to place in the charts.

As singles , the songs were Get Back , Number One Spot , The Potion and Pimpin 'All Over the World decoupled.

The Red Light District was certified double platinum in the United States for over two million units sold in 2005 . In addition, the singles Get Back and Number One Spot as well as the song Blueberry Yum Yum received a gold record in the USA for each more than 500,000 sales .
