Background and composition

On January 21, 2011, the Black Eyed Peas announced on their official website that Just Can't Get Enough would be released as the second single from The Beginning . According to the official website, the song is an attempt to show the "physical and emotional vocal range " of the singer Fergie .

Rodney Jerkins and Julie Frost composed the song together. Jerkins played the piano on the composition and Frost wrote the lyrics and the melody. The Darkchild production team took on the production of the song. Then Will.i.am and the Black Eyed Peas recorded the song.

Music video

The music video for Just Can't Get Enough was directed by Ben Mor. The music video for the song was filmed in Tokyo a week before the Tōhoku earthquake in 2011 within three days. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fergie said about the music video and the earthquake, “It was the easiest music video I've ever made because the video just shows us and our lives. I love that this video gives a real glimpse into our lives on the go, it shows how lonely it can be when you are apart from the people you love. The video also demonstrates our love and connection with Japan. Our condolences go out to all the Japanese who have been affected by this disaster. "Taboo said," It was an amazing moment because Japan has always been my favorite place. It was great that we could shoot our music video there. God bless the Japanese. Our love goes out to all Japanese. "

The music video had its world premiere on March 16, 2011 on the music website Vevo . The music video begins with the headline: “The music video was shot in Japan a week before the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake . Our pity goes out to all of Japan. We love you. ”Fergie sings the song in the video in her hotel room, will.i.am is in the car. Taboo raps while walking in Tokyo and apl.de.ap raps the song in front of a futuristic screen of lights. The video also shows scenes from Tokyo’s nightlife, with young people taking photos of the city and going to the clubs. The music video calls on viewers to donate money to the Japanese Red Cross.

Critics praised the music video. About.com's Bill Lamb wrote, “The feel… was already a bit melancholy depicting the loneliness and separation of being on the road. However, the fact that the clip was filmed in Tokyo, Japan just a week before the recent devastating earthquake gives the video even more depth and poignance. "

Live performances

The Black Eyed Peas played the song live for the first time in the ninth season of American Idol on March 17, 2011. The show began with Will.i.am . He played the melody on the piano and dedicated the song to Japan. Then Fergie started singing , sitting on the piano in a white dress. A short time later, Will.i.am went on stage with Fergie and started singing their duets. Apl.de.ap and Taboo also came on stage and rapped the song. Just like Will.i.am, they both also wore white clothes. The Black Eyed Peas also play Just Can't Get Enough at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2011 and on the show on MTV World Stage.
