Jayma Suzette Mays (born July 16, 1979 in Grundy , Virginia ) is an American actress .

Career

After Mays graduated from Radford University with a degree in the Performing Arts , she made her television debut in 2004 on the US sitcom Joey . She had other guest appearances in series such as Dr. House , Six Feet Under , Entourage , Pamela Anderson in: Stacked , How I Met Your Mother , Ghost Whisperer - Voices from Beyond , Pushing Daisies and Alles Betty! (Ugly Betty) . From 2006 to 2009 she played the recurring role in the series Heroes Charlie Andrews . In the cinema she has appeared in Blind Dating , Fantastic Movie , Red Eye , Flags of Our Fathers and The Department Store Cop, among others.

From 2009 to 2015, Mays played the mysophobic school psychologist Emma Pillsbury in the award-winning US television series Glee . After starring in the first three seasons as a leading actress, she became a recurring supporting actress with the beginning of the fourth season. In 2011 she appeared again on the big screen alongside Neil Patrick Harris as Grace Winslow in the film The Smurfs . She also took on this role in the sequel The Smurfs 2 . In 2013 and 2014, Mays starred as Will Arnett's sister Debbie on the CBS comedy series The Millers . She replaced Mary Elizabeth Ellis , who had played the role in the pilot episode.

Private

While filming Fantastic Movie , Mays met fellow British actor Adam Campbell . The couple has been married since October 2007.
