action

The Vecarians spaceship has to make an emergency landing on a tree planet. The aliens are killed by the queen of the native Selenites.

600 years later the tree planet, called "Axis" by the tree-dwellers, is in great danger, because the sap that they gain from the tree plants and sacrifice to the selenites, which they worship as gods, is becoming less and less, which the "gods" are very much concerned about are angry, he is their livelihood. Among the tree dwellers is the rebellious outsider Kaena, who does not believe in the gods and therefore comes into conflict with the fanatical high priest. She has to flee and falls into the depths of the tree, where she wakes up in a spaceship. There she meets the last survivor of the Vecarians, Opaz. He tries to make the spaceship airworthy again, with the help of intelligent worms that he breeds. Kaena is amazed that her people keep these worms as pets and eat their meat.

Opaz makes it clear to her that he created the tree dwellers so that they should have a memory of his species, which is extinct.

Meanwhile, the situation in Kaena's village escalates. Constant earthquakes caused by the Queen of the Selenites make the villagers flee and fall into the power of their "gods". There they recognize that they are monsters made of juice and can escape them with Kaena's support, who has meanwhile rushed to the rescue with Opaz and some worms. A life and death fight ensues between Kaena and the Queen that will determine the ultimate fate of Axis.
