A Journey in Love and Death is an American drama film directed by John Huston from 1969 . The script is based on the novel of the same name by Hans Koningsberger, published in 1961.
action
France at the time of the Hundred Years War. The young enterprising Heron de Fois leaves the university in Paris. On his journey through France he got caught in the turmoil of war. Heron witnesses bitter fighting between the French and the English. He notices how farmers rebel against their landlords.
Heron meets Claudia, the daughter of a wealthy landlord whose property has been stormed by revolting farmers. Heron brings Claudia to her uncle Robert the Elder. The nobleman sided with the peasants. Claudia wants to take revenge, but Heron, witness of death and destruction, wants peace. The two travel on.
On the way they seek refuge in a monastery that is threatened by soldiers. The monks flee, but Heron and Claudia hold a wedding ceremony for themselves. After that, they surrender to their fate.

The world premiere took place on October 5, 1969. In Germany, the film first appeared on February 9, 1976 as a TV premiere on the ZDF channel .
The production of 20th Century Fox was filmed in Italy and Austria , here in particular at Liechtenstein Castle in Maria Enzersdorf , Lower Austria , and in the Grünanger Church in Neuberg an der Mürz .
Both John Huston's daughter Anjelica and the Israeli Assi Dayan, son of Moshe Dajan , Israel's then Defense Minister, made their film debuts.
