Independence is a half-hour docu-drama produced by John Huston on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America (1776) . EG Marshall acts as off-speaker.

In chronological order, director Huston reviews the events that led to the founding of the USA at the end of the 18th century. Well-known Hollywood actors embody the founding fathers of the nation, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and John Adams. They are central to the historical events that took place in Philadelphia when the nation was founded. The 29-minute plot was followed by the signing of the Declaration of Independence (1776), the establishment of the Constitutional Convention (1787) and the inauguration of President John Adams (1797).
