Hans Skirecki

Hans Skirecki (born April 18, 1935 in Siegersdorf / Lower Silesia , † April 4, 2016 in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg ) was a German writer and literary translator .

Life

Skirecki was the author of short stories and the translator of numerous literary works and non-fiction books from Hungarian . He lived in Berlin . He had a close working relationship with Paul Kárpáti (1933–2017), with whom he developed and published two language and conversation books on the Hungarian language in the 1960s.

Skirecki was a member of the GDR Writers' Association ; since 1990 he has been a member of the Association of German Writers and since 1993 of the PEN Center Germany . In 1998 he received the Hungarian plaque of honor " Pro Cultura Hungarica ".

His grave is in the Georgen-Parochial-Friedhof I am Prenzlauer Berg.
