Miklós Mészöly
Miklós Mészöly ( January 19, 1921 in Szekszárd - July 22, 2001 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian writer .
Life
Mészöly was born in Szekszárd in southern Hungary in 1921. His education took place from 1938 to 1942 at the Eötvös Loránd University . He studied law, but also worked as a physical education teacher after World War II. Mészöly worked as an employee at radio and various magazines and ultimately exclusively as a writer. He wrote novels, stories, dramas and fairy tales for children. In addition to numerous other awards, he received the Kossuth Prize in 1990 . From 1949 until his death he was married to the psychologist Alaine Polcz (1922–2007). Mészöly lived in Budapest, where he died in 2001 at the age of 80. In the obituaries he is repeatedly referred to as the "father figure" or the "superfather of younger Hungarian literature".
