Zsuzsa Vathy (born April 15, 1940 in Pápa ; died January 7, 2017 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian writer , she lived in Budapest.

Life

After studying chemistry at the University of Veszprém , Vathy worked as an engineer in a chemical company in Százhalombatta from 1964 to 1970 . From 1971 she worked as a journalist in Budapest. Since 1990 she has worked for the magazines Kortárs , Hitel , Holmi and for the literary weekly paper Élet és Irodalom , where her stories have appeared. She has been a freelance writer since 1992 . After the death of her husband Ervin Lázár , who was a renowned children's book author and storyteller, she also became the editor of his literary estate. In the volume of short stories “Our life, our death”, published in 2007, Vathy set a literary monument to the life together with Ervin Lázár.

Eighteen books by her have appeared in Hungary, and several stories have been translated into English and German. In 2006 she created a commissioned work for the Herend porcelain manufactory .

Vathy was accepted as a member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts ("Magyar Művészeti Akadémia") in 1997 .
