Lutz Dechant (* 1948 in Jena ) is a German actor and author.

Life

Lutz Dechant grew up as the son of a seamstress and a warehouse worker in Jena an der Saale. He attended the Grete-Unrein-Schule , the Adolf-Reichwein-Schule and the Ostschule , played soccer at SC Motor Jena (later FC Carl Zeiss Jena ) up to the B-youth and was singer of the amateur band "The Ohios" from 1963 to 1965 . After school, with basic training as a concrete worker , he attended the State Ballet School in Berlin for two years and was de-registered there at his own request.He moved back to Jena and worked for two months as a warehouse worker and packer in the city's university bookstore before starting his studies in 1967 began at the acting department at the University of Film and Television in Potsdam / Babelsberg.

After completing his studies in 1971, he was hired to work at the theater of friendship in Berlin (later Carrousel-Theater, Theater an der Parkaue), to which he remained loyal until his last performance ("Peter and the Wolf") in the summer of 2017. During his 46 years on the stage, he worked there as an actor, assistant director, director, director, project manager and author.

In 1979 his first play, Paul and Maria, was premiered at the Theater der Freunde. In 1983 the theater delegated him to study directly at the literature institute "Johannes R. Becher" in Leipzig, which he finished in 1986 as a literary worker. In 1986 he received the Berliner Zeitung's Critics' Prize in the category of new forms of communication for the documentary montage Icke bin noch icke .

In 2005 Dechant produced the CD Salz (12 times the normal blues between Cpt. Beefheart and Paolo Conte) as author and singer together with the band "Wahre Schule" on the No System Sounds label , then founded the band DECHANT and played the live until 2015 -act "Carnival in the cemetery".

With the production of Peter and the Wolf , written and arranged in 2010 based on Prokofiev's musical fairy tale by Harriet and Peter Meining and played together with the musician and performer Ole Wulfers, Dechant made guest appearances at home and abroad (including Russia, Croatia, Albania, Austria, Luxembourg).

He has been married since 1978 and has a daughter and a son.
