Harriet Maria and Peter Meining (born 1967 and 1971 respectively) are an artist couple who worked and produced under the name norton.commander.productions from 1995 to 2014 .

profile

With their works, which include performances, installations, urban interventions and short films, they move at the interface between theater, film, visual arts and new media.

Her theater work is characterized by a technically sophisticated handling of video and film on stage. Using collage / cutting techniques, they alienate known fabrics, examine and dissect the respective templates and figures. The principle of the work is like a series of experiments in which a new structure is created. With this artistic approach, classic fabrics ( Woyzeck ) or film fabrics ( Solaris , Frankenstein ) were reinterpreted and processed for the stage. The program always revolves around the confrontation of the human body with the media world and its aesthetic surfaces, but also its implicit political power structures.

There is something cold-blooded about the fascination with processes whose mechanics lead to personal catastrophes. It is as if all of the Meinings' pieces were playing in a life-threatening year with thirteen moons for sensitive people. The psychopathologies of everyday life, whether in the living room as in Fassbinder's melodramas, in laboratories or in the universe, whether "drops", the rampage "Out of Control", "Solaris", "Frankenstein's" omnipotent fantasy and "Rosemary's Baby", have one thing in common : They are protocols of annihilation. They are about disempowerment and overpowerment - from people by people, by force majeure, by divine or satanic power.

Her works have been shown at renowned national and international festivals such as “Politics in Free Theater” Stuttgart (1999), (Hamburg 2003), (Berlin 2005) Theater der Welt (2002) Tampere Theater Festival (2005) “Welt in Basel” (2006) "Monologfestival" Schauspielhaus Zürich 1999, "Festival Perspektive" Saarbrücken (2003, 2005) or "Impulse" (NRW 2003) invited.
