David García de la Cruz (born January 16, 1981 in Manresa ) is a former Spanish football player .

Career

David García is one of the many players who made it to paid football through Espanyol youth. After Raúl Tamudo he was the third captain and also after Tamudo he was the second longest-serving player at the small club from Barcelona .

For his loyalty to the club, David García was rewarded by winning the Copa del Rey in 2000 and 2006. His contract initially ran until June 2009, but this was extended by two more seasons.

For the 2011/12 season he left his long-term club and moved to the second division club FC Girona . With Girona he reached the play-offs for promotion in the 2012/13 season , but lost in the final. In the 2013/14 season , his missions became less frequent. In the 2014/15 season he was mostly on the bench. He ended his career in summer 2015.
