Wolfgang Dehler
Wolfgang Dehler (born November 2, 1936 in Beucha , Saxony , † April 25, 2003 in Rio de Janeiro ) was a German actor , voice actor and singer .
Life
Dehler, who initially also worked as a drummer for the Elb Meadow Ramblers , completed his acting training between 1955 and 1958 at the Leipzig Theater Academy. He then worked as an actor for spoken and musical theater on stages in Leipzig, Weimar, Dresden and Berlin ( Komische Oper ).
Since the late 1960s, Dehler also increasingly worked for film and television productions. He played in literary adaptations ( Die Gerechten von Kummerow after Ehm Welk ), period films ( Lützower ), science fiction films ( Visiting Van Gogh ), dramas ( doctors ) and numerous crime novels from the ranks of the public prosecutor has the word and Polizeiruf 110 . In the latter, he embodied characters on both sides of the law: in addition to various perpetrators, the investigators Strahl (1983) and Dillinger (1987–1991). He wrote the script for a few police calls. In 1987 he was the main actor in the entertainment series Mensch, Hermann! . He also took on the narrative role in the Rübezahl film adaptations by DEFA . Shortly before the fall of the Wall, Dehler moved to the FRG (as his synchronous roles there, for example in "Willow" prove), without this becoming public.
After the fall of the Wall , Dehler's appearances in film and television were a little less. He played in a film in the Tatort series and in Roland Suso Richter's thriller Nothing but Truth with Götz George in the role of Josef Mengele . In 1996 and 1997 and 1999 to 2001 he took part in the Störtebeker Festival in Ralswiek on the island of Rügen .
Wolfgang Dehler was known for his deep, sonorous voice. Countless times he played Nathan in the play Nathan the Wise by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing in various German theaters. It became a trademark for him.
He participated in numerous recordings (classical music) as a speaker. He introduces himself as a jazz singer on the albums Ströme - Negerlyrik von Two Continents (1984) and Im Blaue Mond September (1982).
As a voice actor, Dehler lent his voice a. a. Sean Connery ( Live and Love in LA ), Robert Loggia ( Ghosts in the Castle ), Leonard Nimoy ( The Bible: David ), Paul Sorvino ( Good Fellas - Three Decades in the Mafia ), and Ian McDiarmid in Star Wars: Episode I - The phantom threat - but only for his appearances as Darth Sidious , the Senator Palpatine spoke Friedhelm Ptok .
Dehler spent the last years of his life in Brazil, where he died on April 25, 2003 at the age of 66. In August 2007 he was buried in the Tolkewitz urn grove in Dresden.
Wolfgang Dehler was married to fellow actor Wera Paintner , the daughter of Martin Flörchinger . The marriage had three children, Barbara, Thomas and Maria. The marriage ended in divorce in the mid-1980s. Son Thomas Dehler also works as an actor.
