Agnieszka Osiecka (born October 9, 1936 in Warsaw ; † March 7, 1997 there ) was a Polish writer, poet and songwriter.

Life

Agnieszka Osiecka studied at Warsaw University in the 1950s and at the Łódź Film School from 1957 to 1961 . As early as 1954, she appeared with the Warsaw student cabaret STS (Student Theater of Satirists), wrote texts for the cabaret and was a member of the theater group's democratically run artistic council . In 1954 she began to publish her texts in numerous Polish magazines. In addition to prose works and plays, her work mainly included song lyrics. In the course of her career she wrote over 2000 lyrics to songs, many of which are part of the standard repertoire of Polish pop music and chanson . She wrote her most successful song lyrics for the singer Maryla Rodowicz . The song Małgośka, sung by Rodowicz in the 1970s , was voted the most popular song of the 20th century by the Polish population at the turn of the millennium . Other outstanding artists for whom she wrote texts were: Kalina Jędrusik , Seweryn Krajewski , Sława Przybylska , Magda Umer and Krystyna Janda . In the last years of her life she was associated with the small theater Teatr Atelier in Sopot . This theater is run by the German director and interpreter of Yiddish chansons André Hübner-Ochodlo . From 1994 to 1997 she wrote numerous song texts for this theater. After her death, the Teatr Atelier was named after her.

Agnieszka Osiecka died in 1997 after a long illness .

Osiecka was the daughter of the pianist and composer Wiktor Osiecki . She was married to actor Wojciech Frykowski from 1963 to 1964 . Her second husband was the director Wojciech Jesionka . The daughter Agata Passent emerged from the third marriage with the journalist Daniel Passent . She is also a journalist and manages her mother's estate together with a foundation.
