Maryla Rodowicz (born December 8, 1945 in Zielona Góra ) is a Polish singer .

Live and act

Maryla Rodowicz began her career as a pop and rock singer in 1967 at the Festival of Student Songs in Kraków and won several hit competitions (Sochi, Opole) in the following years. She celebrated great success at her concerts and television appearances in the 70s and 80s. Even after the political change in 1989, she is the voice of the Polish people, who repeatedly hits the mood in Poland with profound and political lyrics packed in pop music. Her greatest success was the song Małgośka (in the German version: Marja ) in the early 1970s, which was voted the most popular song of the 20th century in Poland in 2000. The text of this song comes from the Polish poet and songwriter Agnieszka Osiecka . To this day, Maryla Rodowicz is one of the most popular Polish singers.

In the German-speaking countries she became known in the 1970s through TV programs such as Ein Kessel Buntes and Current Schaubude and recorded over 30 of her hits in German for the GDR record company Amiga and the GDR radio. Some of them appeared on CD within the CD series 60 Years Amiga 2007/2008.
