The Adam Mickiewicz Institute (Polish Instytut Adama Mickiewicza ) is a Polish cultural institute dedicated to promoting and disseminating Polish culture abroad.

The institute was founded on March 1st, 2000 on the initiative of the Ministry of Culture. Since then, the institute, based in Warsaw, has been part of Poland's foreign cultural policy. The aim of the institute is to promote Poland and Polish culture abroad. As part of “Polish Years” in European and non-European countries (for example 2002 in Austria or the “German-Polish Year” 2005/2006), cultural and artistic events are organized to bring the artists, often little known abroad, closer to the foreign audience . The events should create a positive image abroad, reduce prejudices and make the country attractive for tourists and investors. For this purpose , the institute also maintains the Internet portal Culture.pl , which provides information on contemporary Polish culture in English and Polish.

The name of the institute pays homage to the Polish “prince poet” Adam Mickiewicz (1798–1855), the most important representative of Polish Romanticism.
