Victor Buono

Victor Buono (born February 3, 1938 in San Diego , † January 1, 1982 in Apple Valley , California ) was an American actor in film and television.

Life

Buono made his debut on the theater stage at the age of 18 and then came to the cinema via appearances in television series. Throughout his life he was committed to the image of the fateful, simple-minded small townsperson; his enormous stature underscored the awkwardness of these roles.

He celebrated his first international success with What really happened to Baby Jane? and Lullaby for a Corpse , two horror film classics, each starring Bette Davis . The genre of the fantastic film also shaped Buono's other cinematic work, but the later, mostly cheaply produced productions no longer came close to his first successes. His screen partners included u. a. the former Dracula cast of Universal Studios , John Carradine .

On television he also worked in series, for example between 1966 and 1968 in Batman as the villain "King Tut" , in six episodes in the series classic 77 Sunset Strip in various roles and between 1977 and 1978 as Mr. Schubert in The Man from Atlantis . In addition, Buono had episode appearances in numerous television series.

Buono died on New Year's Day 1982 at the age of only 43 of complications from a heart attack.
