Hill of the bloody boots (original title: La collina degli stivali ), also known as two hewn on the plaster or hill of the boots , is a film from 1969. The film is the continuation of the film God forgives ... also directed by Colizzi ... We Both Never (1967) and Four for an Ave Maria (1968).

action

Cat Stevens is wounded on the run from the Finch gang. He is looking for shelter at a traveling circus. The artists help Cat, but they attract Finch's men. Artist Thomas swears revenge after the gang kills his partner Joe and joins Cat. Cat drive other motives. His friend Sharp, who lives in the small gold rush town of Kingstonville, told him about the corrupt machinations of the mayor and his bandits. This hired Finch to take the property of the prospectors forcibly. Cat's old buddy Hutch Bessy, who put Finch behind bars, comes along as backup. Once in town, they clarify the situation to government official Boone. During a circus performance, the gangsters are provoked in such a way that there is an extensive shooting. Most of the bandits are killed, including Finch. The corrupt mayor is left to the gold diggers.

Reviews

“The somewhat entertaining spaghetti western with some hard shooting and beating scenes is one of the first joint works by the Hill / Spencer duo. The film came back to the cinemas in a newly dubbed version under the title Zwei Haun auf den Putz , whereby the plot was 're-produced' and the comedic traits were reinforced at the same time. "

“Director Colizzi is beginning to become a hallmark of quality in spaghetti westerns: his color widescreen film probably has more than the familiar framework, but it is transparent, full of humor, yes, romance and features praiseworthy achievements in camera, editing and music. Good to look at. "

German versions

There are three German dubbed versions, some of which differ greatly in terms of content and length:

  • The first version was created in 1970 and is now considered lost. Only excerpts from a Super 8 version are still preserved, which was also released on DVD (both the KSM and the Studiocanal edition). For this version, Horst Sommer wrote the dialogues and also directed. Benno Hoffmann spoke to Bud Spencer and Peer Schmidt took over Terence Hill. Spencer's later narrator, Wolfgang Hess , can be heard on Woody Strode.
  • In 1978 a comedy version of the film was made under the title Zwei hau'n auf den Putz , which was shortened by about 15 minutes. For the Schnoddersynchronisation that in the German Dubbing arose, drew Heinz Petruo responsible. Bud Spencer was spoken here by Wolfgang Hess and Terence Hill by Thomas Danneberg . Edgar Ott took over Woody Strode and Arnold Marquis Lionel Stander.
  • In 1983 DEFA created its own version under the title Hill of Boots , which was based on the original and was complete. This version is being broadcast on TV today, but it contains some scenes that were re-dubbed in Munich because they were missing from the ARD broadcast and the Kirch group did not know that these were also available with DEFA synchro. Bud Spencer was voiced by Ulrich Voss and Terence Hill by Ernst Meincke . Helmut Müller-Lankow dubbed Woody Strode and Karl-Maria Steffens can be heard on Lionel Stander. The dialogues were written by Wolfgang Krüger and Klaus-Michael Lura directed the dialogues.
