Two aces trump (original title: Chi trova un amico, trova un tesoro / Who finds a friend finds a treasure ) is an action comedy from 1981, a co-production between Italy and the USA . It is a film from a loose series of strips with the well-known beating duo Terence Hill and Bud Spencer .

action

Alan has betting debts and must flee from his creditors. With a treasure map that he got from his uncle Brady, he hides on the ship of the skipper Charlie , who is setting off on an advertising trip. This catches the stowaway , first wants to expose him in the ocean, but then forces him to work on board. Alan uses this to secretly manipulate the compasses and change course so that they head for the island of Pongo Pongo, on which the treasure is said to be located. After a scuffle, both fall into the sea and have to save themselves on the island.

On the island they are first shot at and then meet the native tribe, which is led by Queen Mama . When both protect the tribe from marauding pirates , the tribe supports them in the treasure hunt. The treasure is located in a Japanese fort , where a Japanese soldier has been keeping watch since World War II . They overpower the soldier and then fight together against Alan's creditors, who have followed him by plane, and the pirates who have returned.

The treasure they find in the fort thanks to the help of the Japanese man consists of around 300 million US dollars . But the Japanese, who now accepted the end of the war and vacated his post, told them it was counterfeit money , whereupon they handed the money over to the navy who had called for help. However, this rumor was launched by the Americans during World War II to downplay the loss of money and to deceive the Japanese, as it turns out when talking to the Navy.

background

The figure of the Japanese lone fighter Kamasuka is probably inspired by Onoda Hirō , who made headlines in the early 1970s. Stationed on the Philippine island of Lubang towards the end of the Second World War , he refused to recognize the end of the war for almost 30 years. Even after all of his comrades had died or deserted, he continued to fight alone, killing and looting on the island and ignoring the repatriation of his country. It was not until 1974 that he accepted the surrender order from his former superior and returned to Japan.

In the film, Kamasuka's decade-long separation from Japanese reality is satirically exaggerated by asking about old war comrades such as B. Lieutenant Toyota or Sergeant Kawasaki and informed about their “ successful careers after the end of the war ”. In the German version, the names were replaced with fictitious names (e.g. Sunili) due to trademark rights (surreptitious advertising).
