In his youth, Amendola went to Turin and found the opportunity to work as an actor and soon as a writer for comic scenes. His style and style of comedy soon caught the attention of well-known artists. He soon wrote for the revues of Wanda Osiris and, with Ruggero Maccari, became the regular author for Erminio Macario . Together with Bruno Corbucci he wrote the film series about the scruffy detective Tony Marroni , which was also very successful in Germany. His self-directed films, however, were rarely shown in German-speaking countries.
