action
Chad Stark leaves his regiment to take revenge on a certain Warner; first he kills four employees of a Mexican rancher. He is captured by Don Miguel and left alive on the promise to bring Miguel's son Fidel, who has joined a bandit group under "Major" Charlie Doneghan, back to his father. Stark tracks down Fidel and makes him come with him by promises; When Fidel suspects the real motives, he tries to flee.
When both are dying of thirst in the desert without water and horses, they are rescued by the beautiful widow Jocelyn, who is on the way to her family in California. When the three stop in a small town, Stark is recognized as a deserter and taken to prison by one of his former sergeants; Fidel frees him. After further difficulties, Stark and Fidel finally arrive at Don Miguel's Hacienda. Stark now notices the real reason for his commission: Fidel is to be killed because he is an illegitimate son of Miguel's wife Sol and the rancher Warner. He helps him defend himself against Miguel and his people when the major reaches the property to bring Fidel back. After another shootout, Doneghan is dead; Stark goes to California with Jocelyn. Fidel joins them.
criticism
One of the few non-comedies by Bruno Corbucci, who is “hard on the heels of his brother Sergio , who has become an icon of the Spaghetti Western”, was described by Herbert G. Hegedo as “not an absolute model western, but one of the Rod, which also offers something for sale for more sophisticated demands for those who know how to dig ”. The Italian Segnalazioni cinematografiche saw in the work, perceived by the lexicon of international film as "imprecise and sloppy staged", a not dishonorable representative of the western series, which was well done in rhythm, staging and some adventurous turns.
Remarks
Some versions of the film offer completely anglicized staff information, which often cannot be assigned. A shortened version with 83 minutes was released as a re-release.
The film music appeared with 10 tracks on the LP CAM SAG 9005 .; Little Tony interprets the film song "Rainbow ... vorrei ... vorrei" .
An uncut DVD was released by Koch Media.
