action

When Isabella de Frissac was just two years old, she had to watch one of the Toulouse family kill her family in order to be able to take over their territory. Isabella escapes alone and is raised by gypsies. But their noble family does not go unnoticed; she comes to befriended princes, where she just barely escapes an assassination attempt by the Toulouse man. Then she decides to fight back her rightful inheritance. With cunning - with a "bare chest and a sharp sword" - she gets into the castle, wounds her mortal enemy, is caught, can flee and have the persecutor arrested. But when he is about to be legally beheaded, another head rolls out from under the hood: The Toulouse man rides away and swears vengeance.

criticism

The lexicon of international films succinctly notes that the film is a “cloak and sword piece with built-in sex and brutal scenes.” The Protestant film observer sums up his criticism as follows: “Old-style adventure film enriched with sex scenes about a French aristocrat fighting for its rightful inheritance. Only moderately exciting and awkward. ”L. Pestelli said in La Stampa that the film“ could only save the audience's interest in the old story from drowning with sex enrichment. In spite of this degree of nudity, the film loses its plus points by adhering to the most established storylines too strictly. "

Remarks

The film was based on a comic series that appeared in 263 numbers for ten years from 1966 and was written by Giorgio Cavedon and drawn by Sandro Angiolini .
