Mimmo Palmara (actually Domenico Palmara ; born July 25, 1928 in Cagliari , † June 10, 2016 in Rome ) was an Italian actor and voice actor .

Life

Palmara attended the Accademia Nazionale di Arte Drammatica "Silvio D'Amico" in Rome. From 1952 he was seen in small roles in major films in which he was able to work under Luchino Visconti , Antonio Pietrangeli , Mario Soldati , Mario Monicelli and King Vidor . Mainly through the engagements with Pietro Francisci , Palmara succeeded in becoming a sought-after actor in sandal films, to which his athletic physique and his good masculine appearance contributed. (In The Incredible Adventures of Hercules he was engaged as a stunt double for leading actor Steve Reeves in addition to his own role and therefore has to wrestle with himself in a film scene.) He was also in adventure films of the late 1950s and the following decade, which were set at other times indispensable. The transition to the spaghetti western , in which he switched back and forth between the role of the hero and that of the villain, he often made under the pseudonym Dick Palmer .

Engagements that escaped these role definitions were rare, so he was able to show his comedic talent in some comedies (including with Franco & Ciccio ) and worked again in 1967 as "Masson" in Der Fremde with Visconti. After 1972 he was rarely seen on screen; Also on television (in which he made his debut in 1956 under Anton Giulio Majano ) roles such as in a series of Uno di noi were the exception.

Instead, Palmara concentrated on dubbing; In 1967 he had already founded his own company, "SINC Cinematografica", before at "ARS". He was active as a speaker and also as a director.

At the beginning of the 1950s, Palmara also played in the Italian rugby championship.
