occupation

Bullets do not argue (original title: Le pistol non discutono ) is an early spaghetti westerns , the Mario Caiano 1964 staged. The German co-production premiered on October 23, 1964.

action

Sheriff Pat Garrett's wedding is in full swing. The brothers Clayton, Billy and George rob a bank and shoot two employees who recognized them. The two flee to Mexico; Sheriff Garrett abandons the wedding party and takes up the chase.

On the way, the Claytons spend the night in a local tavern, and Garrett arrests them both without any major problems. The way back becomes arduous as the Mexican bandit Santero learns about the $ 30,000 that the two of them are carrying as booty from the robbery. Garrett and his prisoners find it difficult to avoid Santero's gang, but they have to cross the desert to do so. They discover a ranch and take a break there.

George Clayton falls in love with Agnes, who runs the ranch with her brother; it makes it clear to him the reprehensibility of his previous actions, which causes him to change his mind. That's why he also helps Garrett defend himself when Santero and his men attack the ranch. However, Billy dies trying to join the bandits. When the ranch goes up in flames, George saves Agnes' brother's life. Pat Garrett promises George to testify for him if he is tried.

criticism

“Unfortunately, a laborious and largely unsuccessful attempt to copy the American role models. Only the beautiful color photography by Massimo Dallamano and Julio Ortas of the wonderful Spanish landscapes and the good music by Ennio Morricone are convincing. "

- Ulrich P. Bruckner, For a few more corpses, Munich 2006, p. 22.

“The direction (means) to have to take refuge for external purposes. In addition, there is a harshness in some scenes that (...) is not acceptable food for young people. "

- Wilhelm Bettecken, Film Service 13 127.

"Compared to the other German co-productions of the day, the film ranks above average and presents an excitingly told story that seems remarkably less antiquated."

- Christian Keßler : Willkommen in der Hölle, 2002, p. 192.
