Pietro Francisci (actually Piero Francisci , born September 9, 1906 in Rome , † 1977 ibid.) Was an Italian film director and screenwriter .

Life

After completing a law degree, Francisci had been working in the Italian film business since the early 1930s. At first he turned mainly documentaries before turning to the movie turned. Among his short documentary films, La montagna di fuoco stands out over Mount Vesuvius , which was photographed by Jack Cardiff . His first feature films were also made completely independently; best known, however, are his period films Attila, the Scourge of God (with Anthony Quinn in the leading role) and The Incredible Adventures of Hercules (with Steve Reeves ), the trigger of a boom of antique films, the so-called sandal films . His last films lacked his previous talent and flair.
