The super bull cleans up the desert (original title: Il figlio dello sceicco ) is an Italian film by director Bruno Corbucci from 1978 .

action

The former police officer Tony Marroni lives with his mother, he does not know his father. He runs a gas station, but the license is not being extended. Meanwhile, in a small emirate in the Persian Gulf there is an international intrigue over oil concessions, over which several groups are fighting. There are different factions within the sheikh's government, and murder plots are soon being forged. In the search for a possible heir to the sheikh, Maroni is identified, who is then hunted in the crosshairs by the assassins of the various oil companies. The murder attempts are unsuccessful.

production

The crime film received no theatrical release in Germany and had its premiere on video. On August 22, 1986 it was premiered on RTL Plus . Contrary to what the German title implies, Der Superbulle cleans up the desert is not part of Bruno Corbucci's series of eleven films about the “Superbull” Tony Marroni (in the original Nico Giraldi ). In the Italian original, Tomás Milián actually plays the character of Luigi Panacchioni . In view of the success of the "Superbullen" series, the German video distributor had the film dubbed accordingly.

Claudio Cinini was responsible for the film construction; the costumes are by Luciano Sagoni . Roberto Tatti worked as an assistant director.

The film grossed 377 million lire in Italy .

criticism

"Thriller entertainment based on puns and stereotypical gags about chestnuts as the alleged offspring of an oil sheik."

In Corriere della Sera G. Gs wrote: “Here we have a folk comedy for everyone, turned on with verbal vulgarities and played in a very affected manner by a made-up, wig-fitted Tomas Milian synchronized with a Roman accent. Bruno Corbucci's direction has no rhythm despite the rich use of style elements and successful shots of the desert landscape, the mosques and the Arab markets. "
