content

1863, during the American Civil War. In Missouri, residents who sympathize with the southern states have formed local gangs to fight against the ruling Union troops and their criminal attacks. A leader of such a gang, Butch from Springfield, rescues two young farm workers, Clell and Josh, from the troops who attacked them in an attempt to prevent horse theft . Both return to the farm and decline the offer to join the gang. However, when Clell and his wife Lizzy are later killed in a raid by a troop led by Captain Clifford, Josh joins the gang and becomes an outlaw.

Two years later - the Civil War is over - Clifford returns to the ranch incognito to marry Christine, the daughter of the owner Evans, and so make the farm her own. Josh, who has now received a substantial bounty, has also come back and kidnapped Christine. With her he tries to reach the limit. Clifford pursues him with his former soldiers. In a duel, the wounded Josh manages to defeat Clifford. Christine now voluntarily accompanies Josh in order to start somewhere new with him.

criticism

“Brescia is telling a story here with good potential, but in a rather stretched way. After all, the viewer's interest in the epically constructed processes never completely wanes, and the craft is satisfactory. "

"Quite entertaining, sometimes a bit lengthy western by Alfonso Brescia with a good score by Bruno Nicolai."

- Ulrich P. Bruckner

“Bandit film in the guise of a western; Sometimes rude in dialogue and design. "

“Tough Italian Western with formal qualities that recognizes the injustice of retribution in its approach, but without drawing any moral conclusions. Possible for adults. "

Remarks

The soundtrack was released on CD and the uncut film on DVD by Koch Media .
