content

1847, California. The revolutionary general Don Esteban stops a carriage and arrests two passengers: Marcel, an entomologist , and Patricio, who is on his way to the governor's palace to introduce himself as a butler. Patricio can persuade the rebel leader to let him go.

Soon after, Don Esteban penetrates the palace and orders the governor and his people to be shot; Patricio - now working as a butler - is again successful with his intervention, as he succeeds in ensuring that the sentences are not carried out until the following morning. That morning only Count Martinez is brought to execution, but at the last moment he is saved by Zorro. The general gives the order to execute the governor instead, but he, too, is saved by Zorro, who intervenes again.

Since the general suspects that the butler Patricio is behind Zorro's mask, he has him captured, but Zorro intervenes again and frees Patricio. Under Zorro's leadership, the people arm themselves and can beat the insurgents in the palace; Don Esteban is killed. Zorro takes off his mask: Patricio appears. When he was captured, Marcel slipped into his role to deceive the rebels.

criticism

"Colorful adventure film of naive wit."

"Routine and mediocre production that shows the typical Hollywood Zorro characters. The story could hardly be more ordinary ”, judges cine-filia1.iespana.es .
