John Fujioka

John Fujioka , pseudonym John Mamo , (born June 29, 1925 in Olaa , Hawaii , † December 13, 2018 in Los Angeles ) was an American actor .

Life

Fujioka began his career in the early 1960s under the name John Mamo. He made his screen debut in 1962 in a small supporting role alongside Vincent Price in Confessions of an Opium Addict . Through his Japanese ancestry and the distinctive design ( Bald and mustache ), which he maintained for decades, he was on specific roles defined . Initially, he had minor roles in feature films such as The Downfall of Japan , Futureworld - The Land of Tomorrow and the Battle of Midway . In 1980 Fujioka crash-landed in Paradise alongside Elliott Gould and Geneviève Bujold played a bigger supporting role as a Japanese soldier on a desert island who did not know that the war was over. He played a very similar role in the following year in the Bud Spencer - Terence Hill comedy Two Aces Trumps . Fujioka was also seen in numerous action films; alongside Chuck Norris in Octagon , American Fighter with Michael Dudikoff and American Samurai alongside Mark Dacascos . His last film role was in Pearl Harbor in 2001 as Nishikura .

In addition to his film career, Fujioka was seen in guest roles in various television series for almost four decades. In 1979 he got the role of Kevin in the sitcom The Last Resort , but the CBS- produced series was discontinued after 15 episodes. From 1982 to 1983 he played the role of Todo in the television series Die Himmelhunde von Boragora in 22 episodes ; this series was also not renewed after the end of the first season. He starred as Baldhead Kin in the mini-series Noble House .
