Steel Dawn - The track of the winner (original title Steel Dawn ) is an American , post - apocalyptic end -time film from 1987 .

description

The film takes place in a future, post-apocalyptic world in which the earth consists only of deserts and wastelands, populated by mutated half-humans and a few farmers in small settlements. Firearms and other long-range weapons are no longer in use or are no longer available. Fighting is only done with melee weapons such as swords, daggers, nunchakus, fighting sticks and the like. This already shaken world is also recovering from an unspecified war from the recent past.

action

A former soldier roams the great desert as a nomad to forget that he lost his family in the war. On the way to an inn he meets his old combat instructor and friend Cord from the army. He tells him that he has now been named the valley's new peacemaker. Shortly thereafter, the two of them are ambushed by a squad of armed men, with the soldier being poisoned and Cord being killed by a hit man.

The nomad survives the poison attack and then continues to travel the great desert to track down his friend's murderer until he comes across the farm of Kasha, a landowner and war widow of the Meridian settlement. She lives there with her son Jux, Tark the foreman, and two other farmers. The nomad does not give her his name and hires out to her as a farmer for board and lodging. As it turns out later, Kasha has a secret, clean and inexhaustible source of water on her property, with which she plans to supply the whole valley via a pipeline. But the farm is repeatedly attacked and sabotaged by Damnil's people, who for lack of a peacemaker feels that he is the ruler of the valley. Only the nomad can successfully oppose his people.

After Damnil tried unsuccessfully to win over the nomad in order to drive the farmers out, he hired Sho again, also an ex-soldier and a merciless killer who had already murdered Cord on his behalf. He kills in an argument with the nomad Tark when he rushes to his aid and kidnaps Kasha's son Jux, which leads to the decisive fight in which Sho and Damniel are killed. After the valley is pacified again and can be planted with greenery to build a city, the nomad decides to move through the great desert again, promising to come back.

Reviews

“The typical western story is visually alienated by transferring it into a fantasy world and costumes and decorations between ancient-historical and futuristic elements. The entertainment value remains just average. "

In the New York Times, Walter Goodman didn’t let the work, whose main characters showed or let people hear, biceps, expensive hairstyles and false accents; the story has long been known.

Remarks

  • The film was shot in the deserts of Namibia .
  • Brian May (guitarist for QUEEN) contributed the soundtrack.
  • Lisa Niemi is the widow of the late Patrick Swayze.
  • In Germany there are small HBE hard boxes with the Blu-ray version of the film in very limited numbers.
