Arnold Vosloo (born June 16, 1962 in Pretoria ) is a South African actor with US citizenship . His most famous role is the title role in The Mummy (1999) and the sequel The Mummy Returns (2001).

Life

He started his career at the theater in South Africa, where he received several awards, including his role as Hamlet , which quickly made him one of the regular cast of the South African State Theater. In 1984 he switched to the film industry.

In 1988 Vosloo became a US citizen and married his colleague Nancy Mulford . The marriage lasted three years.

He played his first role as an American in the film 1492 - The Conquest of Paradise in the role of "Guevara". He later appeared in the direct-to-video productions Darkman II - Durant's Return and Darkman III - The Experiment as the successor to Liam Neeson , who played the title role in the first part of the Darkman trilogy.

He gained greater prominence through the role of the ancient Egyptian priest Imhotep in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns . He can be seen in a supporting role in the spy film Agent Cody Banks (2003). In 2006 Vosloo played the supporting role of the South African mercenary Colonel Coetzee in the film Blood Diamond .

In addition to his film career, Vosloo also had guest appearances in various series, including Charmed , Alias , Shark , as well as a larger role in the fourth season of 24 , in which he plays a terrorist . He also gave the hero of the PC game Boiling Point: Road to Hell his looks and his voice.
