Boiling Point: Road to Hell is a computer game from the developer Deep Shadows . The game was released in 2005 for Windows systems through publisher Atari . It combines the game mechanics of a first-person shooter with an open game world and a progression system, as we know it from role-playing games .

action

The player controls the character Saul Myers, a man who served ten years in a Foreign Legion. It is learned that his daughter Lisa was kidnapped in Realia State. Now you travel to the state as Saul Myers and try to find your daughter and bring the villains to account. You mess with the different factions and worsen your reputation with them or allies yourself with one of the factions: government, guerrillas, bandits, drug mafia, Indians, CIA, civilians. You can also get involved with drug lords.

Game world

The game world consists of a South American jungle (Bolivia), which extends over an area of 450 km², on which countless friends and enemies cavort. The flora and fauna of the game are just as diverse. The player is able to interact with every NPC and to enter almost every building and every corner of the world. You can also operate different vehicles, for example cars , trucks , helicopters , planes , boats , tracked vehicles, etc.

Gameplay

The player has the choice of how to proceed at any time in the game. Whether strategic or radical, whether cautious or thoughtless. Every decision affects the further course of the game. Example: If you take a lot of medication to heal yourself, you will soon become addicted. The player character continues to develop independently. If you use a pistol frequently, your skill for this job will automatically improve . However, it is often denounced that the game does not run smoothly and is buggy. The two official patches fix many bugs and errors, which has improved the gameplay.

Further information

The protagonist Saul Myers was visually modeled on the actor Arnold Vosloo , who also lends his voice in the English version of the game Saul Myers.

In 2008 developer Deep Shadows released the game White Gold: War in Paradise , which is widely regarded as the indirect successor to Boiling Point. Although White Gold is based on the same technique and has strong game mechanics and atmospheric parallels, it does not continue the plot of Boiling Point.
