Progeny - Höllenbrut (alternative title: Progeny - Welcome to Hell, original title: Progeny , literally "descendants" or "fruit") is an American science fiction / horror film from 1998 . Brian Yuzna directed and the script was written by Aubrey Solomon and Stuart Gordon . The film was first released on May 14, 1998 at the Cannes Film Festival in France . In Germany the film first premiered on January 3, 2000 on VHS . DVD premiere followed on February 12, 2008. Arnold Vosloo , Brad Dourif , Jillian McWhirter , Lindsey Crouse and Wilford Brimley play the leading roles .

Sherry, a woman, is abducted by aliens at night while sleeping. The next morning, she and her husband, Craig, wake up without noticing. Shortly thereafter, she found out that she was pregnant. Craig, a doctor by profession, notices that the expected child is abnormal . You are looking for the professor and psychologist Dr. Clavell, who deals with ufology and paranormal activity. This hypnotizes Sherry and takes her back to the night she got pregnant. They discover that Sherry has been raped and made pregnant by aliens. Thereupon her husband Craig tries to kill the unborn with all means. The alien baby, who has already taken possession of Craig's wife, fights back.

“Horror film that spells out its bitter story consistently and gets by for the most part without any rough shock effects. In the end, however, things are a bit disgusting, even if everything is kept within tolerable limits, ”says the lexicon of international films . “A good, grotesque thriller,” said Doug Pratt briefly, while “Video Watchdog” considers the film “a dark satire about upper class fantasies and frustrations”.
