Darkman II - Durant's Return is an American action horror film from 1995 , which is the sequel to Darkman (1990) and was released as a direct-to-video production . The third part, Darkman III - The Experiment , was released in 1996. The film was released on video in Germany on December 20, 1995.

On a stormy night with lightning and thunder, some shady characters are called into a luxurious villa.
Her boss, Robert G. Durant, who was in a coma after falling from a helicopter, regains consciousness and immediately plans to intervene again in the criminal activities of the city by gaining a monopoly on the arms trade. First, he frees a mad scientist and gun fanatic from the closed institution in order to manufacture a completely new type of weapon with his help. Then he starts looking for a suitable manufacturing site that has enough energy potential for mass production.
At first, Peyton Westlake does not notice any of this, he has nested himself in a disused subway tunnel and spends his days perfecting his synthetic skin, which still crumbles in the light after only 99 minutes. He gets capital for his research from criminals who run into him in the streets at night. One day he becomes aware of an article in a journal according to which another scientist named David Brinkman is also working on a method for synthesizing skin cells, which seems to have already made progress, because his artificial skin remains stable longer. Westlake contacts Brinkman and the chemistry between the two is right away. It seems that if they work together they can finally come up with a solution to cell decay.
But Durant believes he has struck gold in the disused Brinkman Industries site . But Brinkman, who is doing research there, does not think of selling his property, so Durant first has him tortured by his thugs and then killed. When Westlake finds him, he notices that Brinkman's finger has been cut off and recognizes Durant's trademark in it. Beside himself with anger, he swears revenge again.
After murdering Brinkman, Durant tries to get into business with his sister Laurie, and she is initially willing to sell the property, but changes her mind when she learns from Westlake who is really responsible for her brother's death.
Although Dr. Hathaway, the weapons specialist, who has since achieved success and has designed a kind of laser cannon in the "handy" rifle format, Durant is not entirely satisfied. Westlake has started again to infiltrate his organization with the help of his face masks and is eliminating one thug after the other.
Durant feels compelled to make his approach more direct. He kidnaps Laurie and threatens her brother's fate if she doesn't cooperate. Besides, he is about to close a million dollar deal with a group of neo-Nazis who want to "clean up" America with the new weapons. However, Westlake thwarted his plans again. With some clever deception he can play the two groups off against each other, so that most criminals perish in a hail of bullets. Durant tries to escape himself, but Westlake blows up his armored limousine and kills him for good.
Laurie is saved but is left alone, and Darkman disappears into the night.
