Robert G. Tapert
Robert Gerard Tapert (born May 14, 1955 , often just: Rob Tapert , Robert G. Tapert or Rip Tapert ) is an American film and television producer , screenwriter , director and actor . He is best known for the Tanz der Teufel trilogy and the US television series Hercules and Xena - The Warrior Princess, shot in New Zealand .
Life
Robert Gerard Tapert is the brother of actress Mary Beth Tapert. While filming the television series Hercules and Xena - The Warrior Princess , he met the New Zealand actress Lucy Lawless , whom he married on March 28, 1998 and with whom he has two sons.
He studied at Michigan State University, where he shared a room with Ivan Raimi . Through Ivan he also met his brothers Sam Raimi and Ted Raimi . The contact with the actor Bruce Campbell also dates from this time . Several successful film projects emerged from this relationship, especially the Tanz der Teufel trilogy. For the production of Tanz der Teufel , he founded the production company Renaissance Pictures in 1979 with Campbell and Sam Raimi . With Sam Raimi, he runs the production company Ghosthouse Productions , which has produced films like The Grudge and The Curse - The Grudge 2 or Boogeyman - The Black Man . With him, Tapert also produced the series Hercules and Xena , in which Ted Raimi and Bruce Campbell starred as actors. Tapert himself was also repeatedly seen in small cameo appearances in the two series .
