The Agenzia delle Entrate , also the official revenue agency in South Tyrol , is the Italian tax authority . It reports to the Finance Department ( Dipartimento delle Finanze ) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance in Rome .

The Agenzia delle Entrate , an administratively independent authority within the portfolio of the Italian Ministry of Finance, is responsible for setting and collecting taxes . The agency is primarily a fiscal administrative authority, but also takes on enforcement tasks ( tax investigations ). In the latter area, there is close cooperation with the Guardia di Finanza , the Italian financial police.

On December 1, 2012, the Agenzia delle Entrate took over the Agenzia del Territorio, which is also part of the Ministry of Finance's division, and is responsible for cadastral surveying and the real estate cadastre in the course of austerity and rationalization measures . The tax offices and other branch offices are subordinate to the regional directorates . The agency has around 34,000 employees (as of 2011, without Agenzia del Territorio ).

history

The Agenzia delle Entrate ( New German about "Revenue Agency", based on the Internal Revenue Service of the USA ) was created in 2000 as part of a general reform of the Italian ministerial bureaucracy. After the Ministry of Finance was merged with the Ministry of Budget and Treasury to form the new Ministry of Economy and Finance, it became necessary to create various administratively independent authorities within the scope of the new Ministry. In addition to the Agenzia delle Entrate , these new “ agencies ” also include the Agenzia delle Dogane , the Italian customs administration.
