Luigi Kuveiller

Luigi Kuveiller (born October 3, 1927 in Rome , † January 10, 2013 in Fiano Romano ) was an Italian cameraman .

Life

Kuveiller worked as a camera operator since the early 1950s, first mainly for Romolo Garroni , later for Aldo Scavarda (with Michelangelo Antonionis L'avventura , 1960) and Aldo Tonti (with Mauro Bolognini's Agostino , 1962, and Mario Monicellis Casanova '70 , 1964). For a short time he was also chief lighting technician and has worked as chief cameraman since the mid-1960s.

In Cinecittà , he initially shot primarily international co-productions under the direction of Elio Petri and Eriprando Visconti , soon also with international directors such as Vic Morrow and Billy Wilder . At the same time, he began to work in the horror genre , first with Lucio Fulci , then with greater media attention in the 3D splatter film Andy Warhol's Frankenstein (1973) produced by Carlo Ponti and Andrew Braunsberg and the successor Andy Warhol's Dracula (both under the Directed by Warhol's in- house director Paul Morrissey ) and finally as cameraman for Dario Argento's Giallo classic Profondo rosso (1975).

Thereafter, Kuveiller distinguished himself primarily as a craftsman in the comedy genre, where he shot with directors such as Mario Monicelli and Alberto Sordi ; later a number of clothes were added with Terence Hill and Bud Spencer . The comedy series was interrupted by some political thrillers by Damiano Damiani and a brief return to the splatter genre with Fulci's The New York Ripper (1982).

In the 1980s and 1990s, he did a lot of work with director Carlo Vanzina , some television productions and another horror film ( Lamberto Bavas Body Puzzle ).
