Boxdoodle Project

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Since 2004 the Boxdoodle Project has been collecting, archiving and examining artistically reduced and abstract figure representations based on cardboard boxes. The shape and staging of the cardboard or the shape of the unwound cardboard result in a new figure or object. In most cases, the newly created cover is supported by a graphic design or even forms the main character of the object.

The Boxdoodle Project has set itself the goal of changing the way people view seemingly insignificant everyday objects such as cardboard boxes in order to show that everyday objects also contain inspiration and creative possibilities when viewed from a new perspective.

The curator and founder of the project is designer and illustrator David Hofmann. The project became known through blog entries, reports on design and art portals and grew within a short time through numerous contributions (called box doodles) by international artists and designers. There is an online doodle tool on the website of the Boxdoodle Project , which allows users to create a Boxdoodle online.

It is an art project that is open to everyone. The majority of the works of art (box doodles) come from artists and designers from the UK, North and South America and Asia.

On the website of the Boxdoodle Project there is an archive with hundreds of figures and objects, the Boxdoodles, works of art by artists such as Jon Burgerman, Boris Hoppek and Sune Ehlers.
