Boris Hoppek (* 1970 ), known as Forty in the graffiti and street art scene , is a German street artist.

Live and act

In 1990 the trained technical draftsman went outside with a spray can for the first time, back then in his hometown of Kreuztal near Siegen . Whether stencils, simple drawings, painted shadows, revised advertising posters or larger colored pictures: Hoppek is constantly expanding his repertoire. His work also includes cardboard sculptures and indoor and outdoor installations as well as drawings.

Relocations to Cologne , Berlin and finally to Barcelona ensured further contacts to the respective art scene, but for years Hoppek could not get beyond recognition within the scene. With commissioned work, e.g. For example, the design of record covers and illustrations for books (e.g. in the book “ Drugs ”), few sales of his works to loyal collectors and the support of his parents, he kept his head above water more badly than well.

That has changed since 2005/2006. After being mentioned in several book publications by Bernhard van Treeck such as "Wall Drawings", "Street Art Cologne" and the now out of print books " Pochoir ", Graffiti Art # 9 and "The Great Graffiti Lexicon", two books about him were published in 2005 by renowned book publishers : “Tranquillo” and “Boris Hoppek y Sancho Pansa”. Larger exhibitions followed.

Hoppek also designs dolls, the so-called CMONS , and thus achieved international attention.
