Lamberto Bava (born April 3, 1944 in Rome ) is an Italian film director , screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Bava began his career as assistant director to his father, the director Mario Bava , for the film Terrore nello spazio in 1965. During his life he remained connected to his father's films in various functions, from 1970 he also worked for other directors. At the end of the decade he worked as a co-director, again working with his father. From 1980 he made himself, primarily horror films ; Despite his technical skills and brilliant special effects, he had to be measured against his famous father again and again. In the mid-1980s, he made a horror series of self-contained films for Italian television, which were marketed on video as stand-alone feature films. In the 1990s, Bava turned to fantasy film . Successful multi-part films were created for television in which women were mostly the focus of the action.
