The quill
Das Stacheltier was a DEFA production group that belonged to the DEFA studio for newsreels and documentaries from 1953 to 1954 and to the DEFA studio for feature films from 1955 to 1964 . The collective - initially the 'Satirical Short Film' production group, from the mid-1960s: Artistic Working Group (KAG) Stacheltier - produced a total of 275 satirical, humorous short , medium and long-term feature films - the so-called Stacheltier .
The series ran from 1953 to the 1960s in the GDR cinemas, where it was regularly seen before newsreels and the main film. Each short film was introduced with the quickly known prickly animal logo, which later also became a trademark. The only full-length film was the black and white film The Young Englishman based on Wilhelm Hauff by director Gottfried Kolditz from 1958, conceived as a silent film .
Many well-known actors and directors participated in these strips, some of which were only a few minutes long , such as Rolf Ludwig , Hubert Hoelzke , Erwin Geschonneck , Gisela May , Sabine Thalbach , Rudolf Wessely , Werner Peters , Heinz Schubert , Horst Drinda , Horst Kube , Johannes Arpe , Rolf Herricht , Rudi Schiemann , Jean Brahn , Werner Lierck , Judith Harms and Wolf Kaiser .
History of origin
The idea for the series comes from the chairman of the State Film Committee Sepp Schwab and the director Richard Groschopp , who held a conversation on January 22, 1953 about the creation of a satirical, humorous short film series. Templates from the Berlin cabaret Die Distel , articles from the satirical magazine Frischer Wind and the experimental and entertaining subjects of the cinema weekly show Der Augenzeuge served as models. On February 1, 1953, the satirical short film working group was finally formed in the DEFA studio for newsreels and documentaries based in Berlin-Johannisthal . The production of Stacheltier episodes (Schwab stood up for the name; initially conceived as a cabaret film) began in the following months.
On April 15, two parts of the Stacheltier debut series ( Herr Schwender , The Last of Yesterday ) were cut into the rough cut; on May 1st successful test demonstration in Berlin-Wuhlheide.
Georg Honigmann was appointed head of the newly founded production group on May 1st, 1953. On October 29, 1962 he was replaced by Rudi Hannemann, a department head of the main film administration of the GDR Ministry of Culture .
