Bing Russell

Neil Oliver "Bing" Russell (born May 5, 1926 in Brattleboro , Vermont , † April 8, 2003 in Thousand Oaks , California ) was an American actor . The later owner of a baseball club was the father of Kurt Russell .

Life

Russell was initially a professional baseball player, but had already taken up acting in high school and began his film and television career in 1951. In the first few years he had very small roles and mostly he was not mentioned in the credits, for example in the film noir classic Rattennest and in the horror film classic Tarantula . Bing Russell owned the Portland Mavericks baseball team , which competed in the minor league . His grandchildren are former major league baseball player Matt Franco and actor and former ice hockey player Wyatt Russell .
