At the foot of the blue mountains is an American western television series that was produced between 1959 and 1963 for the television station NBC . The German first broadcast took place on December 27, 1959 on German television .
action
The plot revolved around two brothers and a casual worker who jointly ran the Sherman ranch near Laramie , Wyoming , a stagecoach stop for the Great Central Overland Mail .
background
The leading roles initially played John Smith as Slim Sherman , Robert Fuller as Jess Harper , Hoagy Carmichael as Jonesy and Robert Crawford junior as Andy Sherman . The latter two were later replaced by Spring Byington and Dennis Holmes as Miss Daisy Cooper and Mike Williams . In Germany, the series was initially broadcast by ARD between December 1959 and February 1965 . Between March 1969 and February 1970 more episodes were broadcast, this time in color. The youth magazine BRAVO published two star cuts by Robert Fuller: 1963/1964 and 1969. He was also voted one of the most popular TV stars in BRAVO several times.
DVD release
On December 9, 2011, three of the 52 episodes originally shown on German television were released for the first time on DVD with German original synchronization. This was only possible because a fan had once recorded the TV broadcast of these three episodes on magnetic tape; all 52 German dubbing tracks were destroyed after the contractually agreed license period ended. These are three episodes, which were initially broadcast in B / W and later in color: The Marshals ( October 18, 1964 / February 13, 1965 / August 16, 1970), The Temptation (Broken Honor) (January 24, 1965 / September 4, 1965 / August 2, 1970) and No Place To Run (February 18, 1965 / July 26, 1970).

Except for the first DVD, all have been re-synchronized.
Since the PAL color television system was only introduced in Germany in 1967, these three episodes of the fourth series series in the American original, which had already been produced in color, were initially broadcast in black and white . It was not until their first or second repetition on ARD in 1970 that German television viewers could see them in color for the first time. In addition, the color broadcast took place in the reverse order to the previous SW broadcasts in 1964 and 1965.
