Sam Groom

Samuel J. Groom (born June 13, 1938 ) is an American actor .

Life

Groom began his acting career in the theater and made his feature film debut in 1963 in the drama Act One starring alongside George Hamilton , Jason Robards and Jack Klugman . A Hollywood career was not granted to him, instead he played from 1965 in the soap opera Our Private World and had guest roles in series such as Preston & Preston and Time Tunnel . He gained fame among television audiences in Germany as the police doctor Simon Lark. The series, of which only 25 episodes were broadcast in Germany, was produced between 1971 and 1974 in four seasons with 86 episodes. After the series ended, he appeared in numerous television films and series. He made his Broadway debut in 2000 .

Groom was married twice. The first marriage had three children. His second marriage was between 1980 and 1982 with the actress Suzanne Rogers .
